The High Line

Looking toward the Hudson River

This ballet dancer was having photos taken while we were there.... It made for an interesting sight!

The buds have been fooled by the weather....

We've walked the High Line on previous visits but never from north to south....the section near the HudsonYards was new for us.... Lots of development going on there ....

Funeral for a Fallen Policeman

As I was walking in midtown yesterday I was amazed by the sight of a sea of police participating in a service at St Patrick's.  It was very moving. As described on the news services "you could hear the pigeons wings flapping" in front of the church..... hardly common in the center of midtown Manhattan....

Beacon's Closet

I would have enjoyed having LOTS more time to browse here....

Good prices and everything was grouped by color....

I wandered in here at around 5 on New Year's Eve.... Busier than any bar I passed on my stroll!!  Resale store where plenty of folks were selecting clothes for tonight!!

New Subway Station

The impressive exit near the Hudson yards.....
A stunning ceiling tile mosaic......

Largest escalator I've ever seen.....

At this point we were the ONLY ones on the subway car.... we were beginning to think everyone knew something that we did not!!

This station is at the end of the 7 line and leaves you very near the northernmost end of the High Line...Just head toward the river and you will find the start of the walkway.....

The Whitney Museum

Our docent leading the tour.....

An outdoor gallery with views..... also a cafe on the top floor......

Wonderful light in the exhibit space with the large windows open to the Hudson River.....

We enjoyed our visit....wonderful docent tour of some of the highlights.... It is a spacious museum with very a very varied collection..

Library for the Performing Arts

All the original stars of Camelot... Richard Burton, Robert Goulet and Julie Andrews....

Adjacent to Lincoln Center is the Library for the Performing Arts...I had visited once before and enjoyed the exhibit space and this time was no different ... Wonderful exhibit about Alice in Wonderland and one with "head shots" of many famous performers.

Neighborhood Decorations - Brooklyn - Very Traditional

Metropolitan Opera....Holiday Matinee

What a treat!  It was a special performance at 12:30 today....many interesting features before the opera began to make it accessible for all...a craft area run by the props department,4 different musicians explaining their role, even an area where children could try on costumes....very impressive in every way !
The stunning ceiling atop the performance space....

My version of a selfie....

Part of the Costume Exhibit
